To Adoption, and Beyond: Pathways in Information Systems Research
At the dawn of the information systems (IS) discipline, our challenge was – how to get managers to use information systems? Research in technology acceptance made fundamental contributions to our understanding. Adoption, continued use, and managerial decision-making presented the next set of challenges that the IS community addressed. Now that IS use is indispensable for managers and technology has permeated every aspect of living, we stand at the cross-roads of IS research. Where must we focus our attention to address the current and future challenges?
This lecture will focus on how IS scholars may continue to create information systems value for individuals, organizations, and for society. What challenges are we being called upon to address? How may we leverage emerging developments in analytics to address these challenges and chart the course for the future of the IS discipline?
